The battle over the future of Hudson Yards took center stage yesterday as City Planning Commissioners pressed developers on their proposed zoning changes for the Western Rail Yards to make way for a casino.

Manhattan residents are pushing back against a proposal that would add a casino to Hudson Yards and cut the number of homes that were once agreed on as part of the development.

Love was not in the air this Valentine’s Day when Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine delivered a rejection on zoning changes to build a massive casino and resort over the exposed tracks at Hudson Yards, while Related tried to woo the community with a multimillion-dollar trove of “benefits”.

The odds keep getting stacked against Related Companies’ high-stakes plans to build a casino at Hudson Yards, with another lawmaker doubling down against the project.

Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine will oppose the zoning changes the Related Cos. needs to build its Hudson Yards casino complex – another setback for the megaproject as it contends with well-funded opposition from the nearby High Line.

Manhattan Community Board 4 recommended rejecting plans on Monday to upzone part of the area and potentially allow a developer to build a full-scale, full-service casino near The High Line.

Manhattan Community Board 4’s (MCB4) Clinton Hell’s Kitchen Land Use Committee voted unanimously to reject zoning changes that would allow for a largely commercial development — including a proposed resort and casino — on Manhattan’s West Side, telling the developer the neighborhood’s priority is creating more housing.

Fashion mogul Diane von Furstenberg has added her voice to a chorus of New Yorkers opposed to a proposal to build multiple high rises, including a casino, on Manhattan’s Far West Side.

Alan van Capelle, the executive director of Friends of the High Line, is fronting a new PR blitz to halt Related’s $12 billion bid to land a casino license in Hudson Yards. The campaign is picking up support from local politicians such as Assembly Members Tony Simone and Deborah Glick.

“I’ve been clear: I’m philosophically opposed to a casino on the west side of Manhattan. The community has been against it, and unless that changes, I’m a no,” said Assemblyman Tony Simone.
